Obituary of Eileen Blaney

Eileen F. Blaney Olean, NY Eileen F. Blaney of 102 W. Spring St. died Sunday (September 4, 2011) in the Olean General Hospital. Born July 22, 1938 in Hornell, NY she was the daughter of Francis and Helen Davidson Blaney. Ms. Blaney attended school in Arkport and Batavia and also attended Beautician School. Upon moving to Olean in the 1990's she began working at the Olean YMCA and later as a coordinator and kitchen aide for The Lighthouse Soup Kitchen in Salamanca. She was currently employed for the United Way of Cattaraugus County, Inc. in Olean where for the past four years of her battle with pancreatic cancer, she rarely missed a day of work . She attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Olean and as evidenced by her career she enjoyed helping others as a tireless advocate and volunteer for the less fortunate. In 2007 she received the "Volunteer of the Year" award for her work with Cattaraugus Community Action. She also loved nature and the outdoors, camping, and was an expert gardener who took great pride in her plants. Surviving are one son Adelbert Doty; one daughter Delores Doty; one sister Shirley Sutton of Kingfisher, OK; one brother Patrick J. Blaney of Angelica and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Kathleen Stauffer and one brother Michael Blaney who died at birth. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday (September 8, 2011) from 1 to 3pm. Services will begin at 3:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Olean.
