Obituary of Patricia Kane

Patricia A. Kane Olean, NY Patricia A. Kane, formerly of the West River Rd. in Olean, passed away Monday (August 8, 2011) in The Pines of Machias. Born July 7, 1929 in Kane, PA she was the daughter of Kevin and Ellen Driscoll Ogilvie. On April 2, 1964 in Olean she married John "Jack" Kane, Jr. who predeceased her May 9, 1992. Mrs. Kane was a 1947 graduate of Smethport High School and a 1951 graduate of the Buffalo School of Nursing. She completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Buffalo. From 1951 to 1953 she served as a 1st Lt. in the US Army where for nine months she was with the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in Korea. She first worked for the Cattaraugus County Health Department as a visiting nurse. She later taught health classes at the Olean City School District prior to her retirement. Surviving are two step daughters; three step grandchildren; one brother William (Pat) Ogilvie of Pittsburgh, PA; an aunt Jayne Driscoll of Olean and two nieces Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (August 11, 2011) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
