Obituary of Delores Meiers

Delores L. Meiers Olean, NY Delores L. Meiers of Olean and until recently a winter resident of Dunedin, FL died Saturday (June 25, 2011) in the Olean General Hospital. Born January 26, 1914 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Charles H. and Louise Edel Meiers. Mrs. Meiers was a graduate of St. Elizabeth's Academy and Mercyhurst College. She had been employed by Bell Aircraft Corp of Buffalo and Standard Oil Co. of Texas in El Paso, Texas. At the time of her father's grave illness she returned to Olean to take over the running of his business, the Meier's Hardware Company. Upon her retirement the business was operated by her son, Terrance DuBose. She enjoyed her winter home in Dunedin, FL and traveled extensively, returning to spend the summer in her family residence on S. 11th St. in Olean. Surviving are one son Terrance DuBose of Great Valley; three grandchildren Charles DuBose and Terry DuBose, both of Jamestown and Michele Butts of West Clarksville; eleven great grandchildren and a great nephew R. Bradley Sheperd of New Port Richey, FL. She was predeceased by one grandson Mark DuBose; one sister Marian A. Morris in 1990 and one niece Lynn Sheperd. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday (June 28, 2011) from 10 to 11am. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA 2944 Olean-Hinsdale Rd. Olean, NY 14760.
