Marion E. Dale
Allegany, NY Marion E. Dale, of 4079 Five Mile Rd. went to be with the Lord on Saturday (February 5, 2011) in the Absolut of Allegany.
Born February 4, 1921 in Allegany she was the daughter of Erich and Dora Gaspar Steiger. On November 21, 1954 in Allegany she married Melvin S. Dale who predeceased her May 20, 1996.
Marion was a graduate of Allegany High School and was a life long resident of Allegany. She was first employed by the former Smith and Schultz Co. in Allegany and then for W. T. Grant Co. in Olean. Later she worked as a bookkeeper for the former Rhode's Bakery. She then worked for the former Grostal (later Ski Wing) Ski Resort in their ticket sales department until her retirement. During her years of employment she worked independently doing house keeping and wall papering for area families.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany and served her Lord and her church in many capacities. She served for twenty five years as the secretary for the Aide Association for Lutherans, sang in the choir and organized church suppers for many years.
She enjoyed quilting, doing word search puzzles and watching television game shows. She especially loved baking, watching and feeding birds outside her home and flower gardening.
Surviving are one daughter Carolyn Dale of Harrisburg, PA; one granddaughter Jennifer (Steve) Moritz Zollars of Colorado Springs, CO; one grandson Chad Moritz of Harrisburg, PA; two great grandchildren Madison Zollars and Easton Zollars and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by three sisters Frieda Amyotte, Bertha Bucher and Dorothy Phillips and one brother Robert Steiger.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday (February 10, 2011) at St. John's Lutheran Church from 10:00am until 11:00am at which time funeral services will begin. Rev. Gerard leFeber, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
