Obituary of Anne Batesky

Anne M. Batesky "Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother" Olean, NY Anne M. Batesky of 1721 Johnson St. died peacefully Tuesday (January 25, 2011) in The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean with her family by her side. Born December 23, 1916 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Andrew and Mary Shuback Martin. On October 25, 1952 in Olean she married Walter J. Batesky who predeceased her February 7, 2000. Mrs. Batesky was a lifelong resident of Olean and had first been employed at the former tobacco pipe factory and later for the Daystrom Furniture Co. She had last been employed in the housekeeping department of St. Bonaventure University until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. John's Church. Surviving are two sons Mark (Suzan) Batesky and Paul (Sharon) Batesky, both of Olean; two daughters Elena Batesky of Olean and Paula (Joseph) Green of Sylvester, GA; seven grandchildren Brian Batesky, Dana Batesky, Roger Emmick, Jr., Heather Klaus, Steven Emmick, Andrea Veno and Brett Batesky; three great grandchildren Jacey Klaus, Preston Klaus and Emma Veno; one sister Veronica Laing of Olean; one brother Edward Martin of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by three brothers Andrew Martin, Jr., George Martin and John F. Martin and six sisters Margaret Dann, Helen Wittenburg, Julia McNeill, Betty McGraw, Mary Ann Dornberg and Rose Jurenko. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday from 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Friday (January 28, 2011) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. John's Church. Rev. Ed Sheedy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John's Church or to Friends of The Pines 2245 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760.
