Obituary of Patricia Whitmer

Patricia D. Whitmer Olean, NY Patricia D. Whitmer of 500 E. Spring St. died Wednesday (June 16, 2010) in the Olean General Hospital after a sudden illness. Born July 8, 1924 in Salamanca, NY she was the daughter of Patrick and Agnes Schwartz Holland. She was married to Francis C. Whitmer who predeceased her January 4, 1979. Mrs. Whitmer was raised in Salamanca and had resided in Allegany most of her adult life until moving to Olean 14 years ago. She had been employed by the former W.T. Grant Co. in Olean and also by K-Mart in Allegany. She was later employed by Reid's Food Barn and then retired after several years as an aide at the Olean Public Library. She loved reading, crocheting and making afghan blankets. Surviving are 1 sister Margaret (Eugene) Woodworth of Great Valley and several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 1 sister Rita Simmons and 3 brothers James Holland, George Holland and Eugene Holland. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held Saturday (June 19, 2010) at 10:00am in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
