Gary J. Rogers
Allegany, NY--Gary J. Rogers of 2878 Rogers Rd. died Wednesday (May 26, 2010) in the Olean General Hospital while surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 1, 1948 in Grand Rapids, MI he was the son of Richard A. Rogers and Esther M. Pitcher Young. On August 15, 1981 at the First Baptist Church in Olean he married Helen I. McGavisk who survives.
Mr. Rogers was a graduate of Hinsdale Central School and had been a lifelong resident of the area. He had been employed by Dresser Rand for the past 36 years. "To the people I worked with at Dresser, whom I am proud to call my friends, it was a pleasure to work side by side with you."
He was a member of the Olean Eagle's Aerie #616 and previously was a Cub Scout Leader for the former Pack 689 of Hinsdale. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycle riding and dancing.
Surviving besides his wife are his father; 4 children Daniel (Tammy) Vaughn of Eldred, PA and Kenneth (Jennifer) Vaughn, serving with the US Army in Anchorage, AK, Guy Rogers of Franklinville, Mary (William) Callahan of Franklinville; 7 grandchildren Noah, Alexandra, Kane, Autumn, Rayne, Amber, Patrick; 2 sisters Bonnie (David) Reed and Diana (William) Granger, both of Lewisburg, TX; 4 brothers Rex Rogers of Olean, Roy (Terri) Rogers of Allegany, Bruce (Linda) Young of Olean and Keith (Linda) Young of Allegany and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother.
The memorial service scheduled for Wednesday June 2, 2010 for Gary J. Rogers has been changed to Thursday (June 3, 2010). The visitation time remains the same from 1-2pm with a memorial service to begin at 2pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. Burial will be at the Five Mile Cemetery in Allegany.
Memorials if desired may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
