Aletha M. Crater
Allegany, NY-- Aletha M. Crater of 120 N. 2nd St. died Monday (April 14, 2003) in the Olean General Hospital.
Born August 31, 1921 in Olean she was the daughter of Clifford W. and Mary Carpenter Ingham. On June 17, 1944 in Olean she married Howard Crater who survives.
Mrs. Crater was a graduate of Olean High School and had resided in Allegany most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olean for over 50 years where she was a deaconess and, along with her husband, was a member of the Builder’s Class of the church. She was also a member of the Sixty Plus Club in Allegany and for several years she served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and for Interfaith Caregivers.
Surviving besides her husband are 1 daughter Judy (Ernest) Bean of Cuba; 2 sons Richard (Karen) Crater of Honeoye Falls, NY and Jeffery (Christine) Crater of Fairport, NY; 4 grandchildren; 1 brother Robert (Marcia) Ingham of Springfield, TN; 1 sister Lynnea (James) Quell of Del Ray Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 1 sister Onalee Young.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State St. Olean. A memorial service will be held Thursday (April 17, 2003) at 2:00pm in the First Baptist Church in Olean. Rev. Dan !McDowell, senior pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the First Baptist Church.
