Obituary of Genevieve Scarlato

Genevieve R. Scarlato Allegany, NY--Genevieve R. Scarlato, formerly of 113 N. 5th St. passed away peacefully Tuesday (March 2, 2010) in The Absolut of Allegany after a long illness. Born December 14, 1915 in Allegany, NY she was the daughter of Dominic and Sarah Greco Scarlato. Miss Scarlato was a 1933 graduate of Allegany High School and had been employed for the US Postal Service in Allegany from 1933 until her retirement in 1971. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where she was formerly active in the Altar and Rosary Society, cleaning of the church and with the annual Bonafest. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and watching sports events on television. Surviving are 1 niece Theresa Berta of Seattle, WA; 1 nephew Thomas Scarfone of Portland, OR; several cousins including Virginia Martiny and Ann (Bernard) Scanlan and close friends Jane McCaffery, Rhea Carls, Paul Carls and children of the late Roger and June O'Dea. She was predeceased by 3 brothers Henry Scarlato, Alexander Scarlato and Francis Scarlato and 4 sisters Mary Carfone, Elizabeth Scarlato, Edith Scarlato and Margaret Scarlato. Private services will be held at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home in Olean with burial following in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
