Olean, NY-Bertha M. Donahey, a former resident of Knapp Creek died Friday (December 11, 2009) in The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. Born November 21, 1913 in Clarington, PA she was the daughter of James and Ora Stalhman Royer. On August 24, 1934 in Kane, PA she married Charles F. "Red" Donahey who predeceased her August 18, 1998. Mrs. Donahey was an employee of Acme Electric Co. in Allegany for 26 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Knapp Creek. She was also a former member of the Electrical Union. Surviving are 1 son Robert Donahey of Knapp Creek; 2 daughters Barbara Pfeiffer and Andrea (Robert) Jones, both of Allegany; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 3 sisters Mary Tooker, Alice Smith and Jane Gaiser and 3 brothers Mark Royer, Fred Royer and Richard Royer. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 1-4pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (December 14, 2009) beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 10:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center 2245 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760, St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany or to the Knapp Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
