Obituary of John F. Fitch

John F. “Bugs” Fitch Olean, NY -- John F. “Bugs” Fitch, 52 of Olean, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, December 30, 2024. John was born April 2nd, 1972 in Olean, the son of Ruth Fitch (Vaughn), the late Jack Fitch, and the stepson of Harold “Pete” Vaughn. Bugs graduated from Olean High School in 1990. During his time there, he was an avid runner who had many accomplishments including attending the state championships for cross country. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, kayaking, golfing, dogs, bowling, and softball. He also enjoyed playing many card games which led to his employment at Seneca Resorts and Casinos for 19 years as a Croupier and a Licensed Massage Therapist. He had spent lots of his life collecting Bugs Bunny collectables and Matchbox cars. He was a member of the St Stephen's Club, the Eagles Club, and the Pulaski Club. Surviving are his daughter Rachael Fitch, his former wife Kelly Miller, his siblings Rose (Harry) Gayton, Ann (Ken) Langdon, Dan (Roxanne) Vaughn, Ken (Brandy) Vaughn, Dan (Kelley) Fitch and Matthew (Amanda) Fitch and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Jack Fitch, his stepfather Harold (Pete) Vaughn and his sister Mary Davidson. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-3 & 6-8pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A funeral service will be held Sunday (January 5, 2025) at 1pm in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Cattaraugus County SPCA, 1644 Olean Hinsdale Rd., Olean, NY 14760.
