Kevin D. 'Hack' Collier
OLEAN --- Kevin D. “Hack” Collier of Olean passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday (September 5, 2023).
Kevin was born in Fayetteville, NC on October 12, 1979, one of 3 children born to Kenneth D. Collier, Sr. and Mary Stiles Collier. As a young man he met a special woman, Patricia Gulnac. After 20 years, they reconnected with one another and joined in marriage on July 16, 2020 in Machias in Patricia’s mother’s residence.
Kevin was an avid golfer in high school, having graduated from Westover Senior High School in Fayetteville. He was a walk on to play Golf at Roane State in Kingston, TN. He was always one to follow his passions, which led him to a career in mechanics and fleet safety management. He could fix anything mechanical and loved anything outdoors. Over his career, he was employed at several landscaping companies based out of North Carolina where he put those talents to work overseeing fleet and safety. He spent several years working as a private contractor in Special Operations for the US Armed Forces.
Kevin loved “Jeeping”, motorcycling, kayaking, and ATV’s. He also enjoyed hiking, fishing, and hunting. His family loved his cooking prowess where he could prepare and serve a fabulous breakfast.
He moved to Olean in 2019, and soon after starting married life with Patricia and their daughter Victoria. He worked privately as owner of KC Landscaping where he found peace in creating a perfect landscape, being in a loving relationship, reading the Bible daily, and taking up a new hobby of antiquing. He will be remembered by his family and friends as one who was always ready to help anyone in need.
He leaves behind his wife Patricia; four children, Victoria of Olean, Austin of Charleston, SC, Kastor of Charleston, SC, and Jenna (Meghan Hayes) of Panama City Beach, FL; a sister Tanya (Damon) Mauro of Fernandina Beach, FL; his mother, Mary Stiles Collier, stepmother Brenda Collier, a stepbrother Chad (Jamie) Schmidt; seven nieces and nephews, Angel Smith, Aaron Chadwell, Cheyenne McEntee, Allissia Page, and Sophia, Hayden, and Madelyn Schmidt. He also leaves behind a wonderful lifelong friend, Chris Malone and his family with whom he shared many childhood memories and experienced wonderful vacations on Topsail Island and Surf City, NC. His furbaby, Loki was his daily companion and was loved by him very much.
He was predeceased by his father in 2023, and a brother Kenneth D. Collier, Jr. in 2016.
A celebration of life service is being planned for a later date and will be announced.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
