Obituary of Deborah L. Peters

Deborah L. Peters Olean, NY Deborah L. Peters, 53, of 328 N. 6th St., passed away Thursday (October 6, 2022) at the Olean General Hospital after a recent battle with cancer. Born October 16, 1968 in Olean, she was the daughter of Susan M. Morris Polk and Merle Burlingame. Deborah was a licensed practical nurse, having graduated from the former St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing. Helping others was a gift of hers and she enjoyed working in the Home Health Care field, first in Texas while she resided there, and later for Beacon Light of Bradford, PA after moving back to Olean. She loved caring for others, and that also extended to her love for all animals, especially her beloved rescue cats. She loved the outdoors and watching her favorite movies. In addition to her father Merle of Cuba, she leaves behind a son Lewis (April Ginter) Peters of Olean; 2 sisters Amy (Albie) Reynolds of Olean and Sharon Cummings of Gowanda; a loving friend Russell Cottone of Olean, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was recently predeceased by her mother Susan on December 8, 2021; a brother Kevin Burlingame on August 27, 2020, and a brother-in-law David Cummings in August of 2021. A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday (October 15, 2022) from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A remembrance service will begin at 1:30pm in the funeral home, led by Deacon Matt Wenke. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cattaraugus County SPCA, 2944 Olean Hinsdale Rd., Olean, NY 14760.
