Thomas L. “Tom” Hooper
Hinsdale, NY Thomas L. “Tom” Hooper of Flanigan Hill Rd. passed away Saturday (March 26, 2022) after a brief illness.
Born February 22, 1954 in Olean, he was the son of the late Robert and Joaine Watkins Hooper. On July 11, 2009, he married the former Deena Williams who survives.
Tom attended Hinsdale Central School. He was a life member of the Hinsdale, Maplehurst, Pleasant Valley Fire Department. He was employed for 33 years for Cattaraugus County DPW until his retirement in 2012. Tom served for many years as Town Supervisor for Hinsdale, and Fire Chief, but was most proud of being a Cattaraugus County Fire Investigator for 35 years.
He loved his bear hunting trips and being out in nature. He took great pride in the upkeep of his property.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters Laura (Doug) Langworthy of Salamanca, and Rebecca White of Limestone; 4 stepsons, Robert (Tara) Leonard of Hinsdale, Michael (Korrin ) Leonard of S. Dakota, James ( Annmarie) Fye of Cheektowaga, and Jonathan (Paige Whittaker) Fye of Olean; one step daughter Kylee ( David Borden) Fye of Olean; 18 grandchildren; 6 great- grandchildren; his siblings, Robert (Aida) Hooper of Troy, OH, and Nancy (William) Clayson and Toni (Richard) Gleason, both of Hinsdale, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, a special nephew David Collins predeceased him.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 West State Rd. Olean on Thursday (March 31, 2022) from 11:00am-1:00pm. A funeral service will begin at 1pm, with Monroe Bishop presiding.
