Obituary of Robert L. Guenther

Robert L. Guenther Olean, NY Robert L. Guenther, 72, of 543 E. Highland Ave., passed away Thursday (August 26, 2021) at the Absolut Care of Salamanca. Born March 31, 1949 in Olean, he was the son of Richard L. and Eleanor Knox Masten. Robert was raised in Olean and at the age of 21, built his own home on Highland Ave. which he lived in all his life. He lovingly took care of his mother for many years in his home and saw to her every need until her death in 2002. Robert was a handyman and operated Bob’s Home Care where he loved tending to the landscape needs of many area doctor’s residences. He had a best friend, Greg McElfresh of Olean who worked with him in the mowing business and who helped look after Robert’s needs as illness took away more and more of his independence. Prior to the landscape business, he worked for the former Bush Plating Co., the former Furniture Mart, and as a bus driver for the ReHabilitation Center as operated by Louis Magnano. He was also mechanically inclined, and could also repair radios, tv’s and later, computers. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing. He has no known family members. His burial will take place next to his mother in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. Anyone is welcome to attend this ceremony on Tuesday (August 31, 2021) at 11:30am at the gravesite. Rev. Chuck Maine will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
