Barbara J. Threadgill
Allegany, NY Barbara J. Threadgill of 3843 Old State Rd. passed away Monday (October 22, 2018) after a brief admission to Buffalo General Hospital.
Born September 30, 1931 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Harry E. and Sophie Agnes Mack Reddy. On June 4, 1955 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean she married Thomas C. Threadgill who survives.
Barbara attended St. Mary’s Academy until the 8th grade and later graduated from Olean High School, class of 1949. After graduation she was employed by K-Bar Cutlery and Nabisco, both in Olean. During her husband’s different assignments with the United States Air Force, they lived in Texas (2 times), Tripoli Libya, Colorado, Taipei Taiwan and Florida. After his retirement, they moved to Allegany, where she was employed by the former Big N, Valu Hardware and later for the former Allegany Underwriters Insurance.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, the Lady Hibernians and the Allegany Sixty Plus. She was a member and past president of the Allegany American Legion Auxiliary and served as the Cattaraugus County American Legion Auxiliary committeeperson for many years. She was named the outstanding auxiliary member of the year in 1983 and 1999.
Surviving besides her husband are her four children Thomas E. (Rebecca) Threadgill of Allegany, Cynthia J. Threadgill of Allegany, Tracy L. Threadgill of Allegany, Dale C. (Rebecca) Threadgill of Shinglehouse, PA; 7 grandchildren Melissa, Kristina, Susan, Kathleen, Thomas, Zachary and Isaac; 6 great grandchildren Paige, James, Ian, John, Lillian and Beau and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by five sisters and their husbands Virginia and Earl Ehlers, Marjorie and Francis Knepley, Phyllis and Donald Hendrickson, Delma and Edson Hendryx and Patricia and James McMahon.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday (October 25, 2018) at 9:30am at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
