"Sports enthusiast and family man"
Allegany, NY Robert M. "Robbie" King, Jr. of 112 N. 2nd St. passed away Friday (October 19, 2018) at home, in the loving care and company of his wife Sally and his dog Macy.
Born June 14, 1957 in Olean he was the son of Robert M. and Frances M. Perkins King, Sr. On August 4, 2007 in Allegany he married Sally Karl who survives.
Robbie was a 1976 graduate of Portville Central School and first worked as a mechanic for Gus Case in Portville. He then worked for the town of Portville for a period of time before starting to work for the Town of Allegany Department of Public Works. Most recently he was employed by the Village of Allegany and operated much of their heavy equipment. He had also been working part time as a police officer for the Village.
He was an enthusiastic hunter and sportsman. While in high school he excelled in football and wrestling and as an adult he enjoyed spending time hunting either locally or taking occasional hunting trips with his friends. Anytime there was a project that needed excavation work, he was there for his family and friends to help operate the heavy equipment.
Robbie also helped coach youth football in Allegany. Additionally, he was a long-time EMT, first with the Portville Volunteer Fire Department and more recently with the Allegany Rescue and EMS.
Surviving besides his beloved wife Sally are 3 children Heidi (James Reska) King of Chipmonk, Ashley (P.J. Sheehy) King of Olean and Lindsay King of Olean; 1 Godson Nicholas Sanders of Olean; 4 grandchildren Alexis Reska, Colton Reska, Jack Reska and Olivia Sheehy; 2 brothers Wayne (Cathy Gilbert) King of Florida and Michael (Kris) King of Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; a granddaughter Isabella Alice Reska and a sister Linda King.
Friends are welcome to a memorial visitation on Sunday (October 21, 2018) from 1pm to 3:30pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:30pm in the funeral home. Pastor Vickie Hedlund, Olean General Hospital Chaplain and dear family friend, will officiate.
The family wishes to decline flowers. Memorials, if desired, may be made to help offset recent medical expenses. Contributions may be directed to a GoFundMe page titled "Rally for Robbie King".
