Thomas Latimer Lennon

Louisville, KY     Thomas Latimer Lennon, 89, an Olean native, died Saturday (September 29, 2018) in Louisville after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 20, 1929 in Olean he was the son of Joseph Hugh and Leona Latimer Lennon.

Mr. Lennon was a 1951 graduate of St. Bonaventure University where he received a degree in business administration.  He was a member of the ROTC while in college.
He thereafter served with distinction as an officer with the US Army from 1951 through 1953, serving in the Korean War.

After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1953, Mr. Lennon was employed with Mobil Oil Corporation in Dallas, TX.  During his tenure with Mobil Oil, Mr. Lennon worked in New York City, Corpus Christi, TX and Lafayette, LA, ultimately settling in New York City in 1961 where he spent the rest of his career, retiring as an accountant with Mobil Oil in 1982.

During his 57 years in Manhattan, Mr. Lennon was a penultimate resident and he enjoyed all aspects of the cultural environment in the city, ranging from making regular visits to various art galleries to partaking in the spectacle of the performing arts, especially The Broadway Theatre.  He also had special affection for dining out and he enjoyed weekend excursions to various places in and around the area, along with extensive travel whenever possible.

Mr. Lennon is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Catherine Lennon Winfield of Louisville, KY; nieces Catherine Winfield Masden of Louisville, KY and Marcia Winfield Weaver of Dallas, TX, along with a host of loving great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends, all of whom have an abiding love, respect and fondness for him.

He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Lennon on June 13, 2012.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd, Olean.  A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday (October 5, 2018) at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church.  Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant.  Burial will be in the family plot in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
