David J. Margeson

Allegany, NY     David J. Margeson, 57, of 3651 W. Branch Rd. passed away peacefully Thursday (June 14, 2018) at home, after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 2, 1961 in Olean he was the son of Carl V. Margeson and Georgianna Bockoven Margeson.  On October 18, 1980 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany he married the love of his life, Teresa Papasergi, who survives.

David was a graduate of Archbishop Walsh High School and worked 25 years for Stroehmann Bros. prior to the onset of his illness.

He was a sports enthusiast and coached wrestling for many years at both Archbishop Walsh High School and later for Allegany Limestone Central School until 2011.  If Dave wasn’t on the mat coaching wrestling, you could hear him coaching his kids from the sidelines at all of their sporting events.
He also was an avid football fan who loved the NY Giants.

Surviving besides his wife are 3 children April Crisafulli, Amy Benjamin and Anthony (Jen) Margeson, all of Allegany; 8 grandchildren Lior Crisafulli, Calum Crisafulli, Kymber Benjamin, Teagan Benjamin, Marek Benjamin, Jenna Margeson, Tayden Margeson and Jaydalyn Margeson; 3 brothers Carl V. (Deborah) Margeson and Tim Margeson, both of Allegany and Christopher Margeson of Olean and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and an infant brother Michael Francis Margeson.

Friends will be received on Monday from 7-9pm and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday (June 20, 2018) at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Church.  Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALS Association), 135 Old Cove Rd. Suite 213, Liverpool, NY 13090.
