Shirley A. Black
Allegany, NY Shirley A. Black, formerly of 4108 Highland Ave in Salamanca, passed away peacefully Tuesday (March 21, 2017) at The Absolut of Allegany.
Born August 24, 1936 in Cassadaga she was the daughter of Peter and Elta Maddison Schultz. On February 6, 1954 in Otto she married Donald Black who predeceased her September 8, 2004.
About the age of 9, Shirley began living with foster parents Lester and Agnes Frost and graduated in 1953 from Cattaraugus Central School. She most recently worked as a food service employee for J. N. Adam Developmental Center in Perrysburg, retiring in 1983. It was a job that suited her well due to her lifelong compassion for helping others less fortunate than she. She was also very strong in her Christian faith and exemplified that in her love of family and in her strong friendships over the years. She enjoyed the outdoors, was competitive at playing games and kept music as an important part of her life. She enjoyed worshiping with the congregation of the House of Prayer in Salamanca.
