Obituary of Florence E. Van Cleaf

“Former Olean Resident” Salamanca—Florence E. Van Cleaf, a three year resident of Absolut Care of Salamanca, passed away Tuesday (February 12, 2008) at the Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born April 4, 1913 in Savannah, NY she was the daughter of William and Adah Hazard Van Cleaf. Ms. Van Cleaf moved to Olean in 1996 from Pasadena Texas, where she had been employed as a cook, nanny and a home health aide before retiring. In her past time she enjoyed cooking and watching old movies. Surviving are three nephews Henry Van Cleaf and Michael Van Cleaf both of Olean, George Van Cleaf of Buffalo, 2 great- nephews Jon Van Cleaf of Olean and Jacob Van Cleaf of Des Moines IA; and a great- niece Danielle Van Cleaf of Dayton, OH. She was predeceased by 3 brothers George, Grant and Merle and 2 sisters Allison and Glenada. Friends will be received at Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road, on Saturday (February 16, 2008) at 7pm at which time a memorial service will be held. Rev. Gerald Slack, pastor of the Sacred Temple Church of God In Christ will officiate.
