Obituary of Sharon Burrows

Sharon M. Burrows “Honey Abdo” Olean—Sharon M. Burrows, a four year resident of The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean, passed away Tuesday (February 26, 2008) at the Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born August 15, 1944 in Olean, she was the daughter of James and Sally Praino Abdo. On June 10, 1967 in St. Joseph’s Church in Olean he married Thomas York, Sr. She later married Albert Burrows on October 24, 1977 who predeceased her. Mrs. Burrows was a 1962 graduate of Olean High School. She had been employed at the former Hydrox Dairy, the former Kresge’s Department Store and K-Bar Cutlery. She was a housewife who lovingly raised her children and who enjoyed playing bingo and showering her grandchildren with love. Surviving are two children Melissa (Ronald) Murphy of Olean and Timothy (Danielle Zawatski) Burrows of Olean; 2 grandchildren Ariyana Burrows and James Burrows; a longtime companion Carroll Holly; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and Raymond Burrows Hughes, a young man that held a special place in her heart. In addition to her husbands she was predeceased by a brother David Abdo. Friends will be received at Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today (Thursday February 28, 2008) from 4-6:30pm. Funeral services will begin at 6:30pm. Father Joseph Akiki, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be made to St. Josephs Maronite Church or to The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center 2245 W. State St. Olean.
