Obituary of Marie J. Scott Mogg

Marie J. Scott Mogg Portville—Marie J. Scott Mogg, formerly of 90 South Main Street, Portville, passed away Thursday (February 28, 2008) from cancer at Absolut Care at Salamanca. Born July 8, 1920 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of Royal and Bessie Fox Scott. On October 29, 1955 she married Shirley L. Mogg who predeceased her in 1992. Ms. Scott was employed and retired from the former ACME Electric Co. in Allegany for 30 years. She later worked at the former Super Duper in Olean for 9 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, bingo and spending time with her family. She was very close to all her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Olean Senior Citizens Center and a life member of the Eagles Club. Surviving are 4 nieces Becky (James) Gold of Olean, Diane (Todd) !VanDyke of Allegany, Deborah Sirianni of Texas, Susanne (Mark) Batesky of Olean; a nephew Tom (Kathy) Scott of Olean; 11 great- nieces and nephews Beth Adams, Kristen Sirianni, James Gold, Russell Gold, Scott Rothleder, Brian Batesky, Stephen Gold, Dana Batesky, Troy Clark, Justin Scott, Kaitlyn Scott; and 6 great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Edwin “Bud” Scott, Royal Douglas Scott; and a dear friend Albert “Tat” Catani. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held on Saturday (March 22, 2008)at 11am at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Rev. Dr. Anthony L. Evans will officiate. Memorials if desired may be made to the Town of Olean Fire Department, or to the Olean Senior Citizens Center 112 N. Barry St. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
