Obituary of Alfred R. Golden

Alfred R. “Goldie” Golden “Loving husband, father, grandfather” Bradford, PA—Alfred R. “Goldie” Golden of 84 Holley Ave. died Friday (March 14, 2008) in the Bradford Manor in Bradford, PA after a short illness. Born May 1, 1928 in Lockport, NY he was the son of Alfred and Florence Golden. On September 12, 1962 in W. Clarksville, NY he married Patricia A. Burlingame who survives. Mr. Golden attended school in Lockport and was a resident of Olean and Bradford, Pa most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps having served in WW II from 1945 until 1946. He served again from 1950 until 1954 at which time he was discharged with the rank of sergeant. He had been employed for many years as a roofer for Peterson Roofing Co. in Olean. He was an avid fast pitch softball player having played in Olean leagues and helped lead his team to several tournament championships. He also enjoyed bowling and was an excellent horseshoe player. Surviving besides his wife are 2 sons Alfred R. (Sandra) Golden, Jr. of Hinsdale, NH and William A. (Judy) Richardson of Lockport; 4 daughters Joyce (Don) Yale of St. Mary’s, GA, Diane (Gary) Alcock of Bradford, PA, Beverly (Rick) Waldeck of Bradford, PA and Judy (Jim) Abel of Niagara Falls; 10 grandchildren, including a special grandson Alfred R. Golden, III of Warr Acres, OK; 26 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 1 brother, 1 sister and a grandson Michael Waldeck. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (March 18, 2008) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Bert Tidlund will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
