Obituary of John H. Bonhoff

John H. "Wolf" Bonhoff, Sr. “Loving husband, father, grandfather” Oswayo, PA—John H. "Wolf" Bonhoff, Sr. died Wednesday (July 30, 2008) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo after a lengthy illness. Born February 23, 1944 in Olean, NY he was the son of Clifford L. and Esther R. Crawford Bonhoff, Jr. On August 7, 2003 in Olean he married Linda J. Wood who survives. Mr. Bonhoff was raised in Olean and had formerly worked in the maintenance department at St. Bonaventure University. He was an outdoors person who loved fishing and hunting. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Bass Masters Association. He especially enjoyed time with his family. Surviving besides his wife are 1 daughter Jeanne M. Bonhoff of Olean; 2 sons James G. Bonhoff of Olean and John E. Bonhoff of Torrance, PA; 2 stepsons Daniel P. Leonard of Michigan and Jason A. Leonard of Wellsville; 4 grandchildren; 2 step granddaughters; 3 sisters Brenda L. Gordon of Yuma, AZ, Carol R. (Glenn)Treaster of Olean and Dorothy C. (Daniel) Lippert of Olean; several nieces and nephews and special friends Herb and Karen Cox of Alma. He was predeceased by his parents and 1 son John H. Bonhoff, Jr. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Monday (August 4, 2008) from 1-3pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A service will follow at 3pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation PO Box 631 Buffalo, NY 14240.
