William J. "Bill" Walsh Olean, NY—William J. "Bill" Walsh, of 350 Front St. passed away Friday (September 12, 2008) at the Olean General Hospital. Born December 6, 1927 in Olean, NY he was the son of Patrick and Freda Koblinger Walsh. Mr. Walsh resided in the Olean area most of his life and was a veteran of the US Army having served in Guam. He had been employed by the City of Olean Parks and Recreation Department for many years prior to his retirement. Surviving are 8 brothers and sisters Thomas Walsh of Atlanta, GA, Robert Walsh of Olean, Mary Walsh and Virginia Walsh, both of New York City, Kathleen (Anthony) Bartolo of New Jersey, John (Shirley) Walsh of Allegany, Dorothy Brunner of Hinsdale and Peggy Walsh of Olean and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Joan Rado in 1973 and a brother Richard Walsh in 1988. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (September 16, 2008) at 10:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean, will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
