Marion A. Work Libby “Loved her family, loved life” Allegany, NY—Marion A. Work Libby, formerly of Allegany and Amber Leigh Retirement Community in Williamsville passed away Sunday (December 30, 2007) in the Olean General Hospital. Born March 9, 1916 in Springville, NY she was the daughter of William and Gladys Frank Folts. On May 2, 1936 in Springville she married Kenneth R. Work who predeceased her October 1, 1979. On October 25, 1980 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany she married Albert W. Libby, Sr. who predeceased her June 17, 2005. Mrs. Libby had worked for over 12 years for the former Hornell Gravel Co. in Allegany and later she and her husband co-owned the former Work and Silvis Co., Inc. in Allegany where she worked in the office. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany, was a member of the Allegany Fire Department Auxiliary and also the Lady Shriners. She was an excellent homemaker and was a member of the Olean General Hospital Auxiliary and a former Cub Scout leader. She loved dancing, especially line dancing. She also loved flower gardening, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are 1 daughter Beverly (Paul) Carter of Allegany; 1 son Kenneth (Yvonne) Work of Clarence; 2 stepsons Dennis (Stephanie) Libby of Newport News, VA and Albert (Myra) Libby, Jr. of Osage, Iowa; 5 grandchildren Teresa John, Jeffery Carter, Daniel Carter, Gregory Carter and Nathan Work; several step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; 1 brother Frank (Molly) Folts of Aurora, IL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands she was predeceased by an infant son Maynard Work and 12 brothers and sisters. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (January 2, 2008) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Frank Hayman, pastor of the Allegany Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Springville, NY. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
