Obituary of Stephen M. Bish

Salamanca, NY Stephen M. Bish of 216 Hillview Homes passed away Sunday (December 27, 2015) in the Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by his wife and family. Born January 14, 1953 in Olean he was the son of Robert E. and Bertha L. "Sis" Potter Bish, Sr. On February 5, 2011 in Salamanca he married Dawn Brown who survives. Stephen was a 1971 graduate of Hinsdale Central School and worked as a chef at St. Bonaventure University for 25 years. He later worked for King's Greenhouse in Olean. He was a family man who especially loved being with his children, enjoying campfires with them and also being with his close buddies Daniel Waite, Russell Waite, Thomas Schoonover and Bill Lewis. Surviving besides his wife are 3 children Christy (Jeffrey) Fowler of Rochester and Haylee Bish and Corey Bish, both at home; 1 stepdaughter Courtney Brown of Watkins Glen; 4 grandchildren; 5 siblings Robert E. (Linda) Bish, Jr. of Olean, David L. (Sandy) Bish of Hendersonville, TN, Gloria J. Bish of Millersville, TN, Connie S. (Wesley) Knight of Bolivar and Jeffrey L. (Kathy) Bish, Sr. of Olean; his mother-in-law Linda Washburn of Little Valley and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his parents and a son Ryan M. Bish in 2000. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday (December 30, 2015) from 2-4 & 7-8pm. Funeral services will begin at 8:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Marie Lorenz Dialysis Center, 623 Main St. Olean, NY 14760.
