Obituary of Marilyn J. Schuman

Olean- Marilyn J. Schuman, 93, a resident of Eden Heights, formally of Garden Avenue, passed away Thursday (July 16, 2026) at Olean General Hospital. Born May 13, 1933 in Olean she was the daughter of Raymond and Mazie Schraeder Haggerty. On April 26th, 1958 at St. Mary’s of the Angels Church in Olean, she married Paul A. Schuman who predeceased her July 12, 2013. Marilyn was a 1951 graduate of Olean High School. She worked in the bakery for Reids Food Barn. She was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary’s of the Angels. She is survived by her three children Sandra (Michael) Lyons, Mark (Margaret) Schuman, and Paula (Pete) Dandrea, all of Olean; seven grandchildren, Kristin (Ryan) Gustason, Michael (Veronica Davis) Lyons, Jr., Kari (Dana) Jennings, Brock (Melissa) Lyons, Miranda (Timothy) Ellison, Jillian (Daryl) Rose, and Derek Dandrea; and ten great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Kenneth Haggerty, Mercedes Sheley, Raymond Haggerty, Jr., and Geraldine Pockalny. Friends will be received on Monday ( July 20, 2026) from 4 pm to 7pm at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean. A prayer service will be held Tuesday (July 21, 2026) at 9:15am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels with Rev. David Tourville as the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
