Obituary of Patricia A. Smith

Patricia A. Smith Allegany, NY It is with deep sadness that the family of Patricia Smith, affectionately known as “Pat,” announces her sudden passing on Sunday (February 15, 2026) at the Olean General Hospital. She was born on July 12, 1937 in Portville to the late Clifford and Dorothy Taft Blakeslee. Pat worked for a number of years for various retail department stores including the former BonTon Store as well as J. C. Penny Co.. Known for her kindness to and compassion for others, she was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Olean for over six decades. She is survived by her husband, Philip Smith to whom she was married seventy years; one son, Jeff (Maryann) Smith; one daughter, Cathy McConnaughey; four grandchildren, Thomas (Bea) Smith, Emily (Nick) Pereira, Mallory (Jared) Battistoni, and Nicholas McConnaughy; three great grandchildren, Nadia, Benjamin, and Cecilia; one sister, Sherry (Bill) Connor, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grandson, Joshua Smith, two sisters, Beverly Talbott and Kathy McGonnell, and one brother, Amos Blakeslee. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Presbyterian Church in Olean and will be announced. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are with the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
