Bernie and I grew up on Oelkers St. In North Tonawanda and played together as kids there. Later we attended college together at Buf State in the early 70s. I often drove us back and forth to classes with Kristin in the back seat dropping her at daycare on campus. We shared being in musical theater productions together and a circle of friends.
Bernie came to know our family well and loved the times spent at my sister’s family house on Beach Avenue in Rochester. That is where Kristin and Marybeth started their lifelong friendship. Lots of laughter and memories with flying pizzas and crazy practical jokes.
I loved meeting up with Bernie in Washington DC when she was there at national meetings of the Indian Nations. Learned so much about the status and culture of these many and varied tribes, and the politics involved with our country.
Am proud of my friend’s career and volunteer service to those less fortunate. Bernie was a great woman who will be missed by family and friends. Her life was cut short, and lived well. She will be remembered by many, including me. Sending my condolences and love to Kristin and the family in this tough time. Maybe the Bills will go all the way this year in her memory
