Joyce D. Augostini
Allegany, NY Joyce D. Augostini, 86, of Allegany, passed away Friday (July 11, 2025) at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 24, 1939 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Ralph and Louva Dana Sayre. On October 5, 1957 at St. John’s Church in Olean she married William J. Augostini who survives.
Joyce graduated from Colonie Central High School and later attended Erie Community College where she and Bill first met. For several years she worked for the former New York Telephone Co.. She was a busy stay-at-home Mom raising 5 children until beginning work in the restaurant business with Bill as its accountant/bookkeeper. After the restaurant closed, she worked until her retirement for the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church. She loved her years raising her family, and was also a talented seamstress and was artistic, particularly at painting. She was social with the Daughters of the American Revolution and in quilting clubs.
She leaves behind her husband Bill of 67 years; 3 children, William Augostini, Jr. of Allegany, Dr. Ralph (Holly) Augostini of Columbus, OH, and Sondra Augostini of Ormond Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a son-in-law, Donald Lowe of Allegany; 2 sisters-in-law, Josephine Jordan of Lodi, CA, and Marion Gentile of Boonton, NJ as well as a brother-in-law, Carl Augostini of Anna Maria Island, FL.
She was predeceased by a son, Mark Augostini in 2021S; a daughter Sharon Lowe in 2022; a sister, Katherine Hollenbeck; 7 sisters and brothers-in-law, Louis Augostini, Rose Orsini, Nicholas Augostini, Theresa Questa, Laura Cory, Robert Augostini, and Peter Augostini.
The family invites friends to a memorial mass on Saturday (July 26, 2025) at 10am at St. Bonaventure Church. Burial will be in the family lot in Scotia, NY.
Memorials may be made to the Allegany Rescue and EMS, 117 E. Main St., Allegany, NY 14706, the Cattaraugus County SPCA, 2944 Olean Hinsdale Rd., Olean, NY 14760, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
