Obituary of John E. Styles, Jr.

John E. Styles, Jr. Olean, NY John E. Styles, Jr., 91, a lifelong resident of Olean, passed away Tuesday (May 13, 2025) at Wellsville Manor, Wellsville, NY. Born June 27, 1933 in Olean, he was the son of John D. and Cora E. Elliott Styles. John was a graduate of Olean High School and joined the US Army where he served proudly from 1953 to 1955. He began his working years for the former Vincent Buick Co. in Olean, and later for several years for the W. R. Case and Sons Cutlery in Bradford, PA where he was a member of the International Machinists Union. He then worked for many years for the maintenance department at Olean High School prior to his retirement. John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Olean and also a 32nd degree Mason with the Bradford Lodge. John enjoyed NASCAR as well as talking about cool cars and following Notre Dame football with his nephew and Godson, Daniel. He cherished his many friends through his volunteer work for years at the Olean Food Pantry. He was also generous financially and supported many charities over the years. He is survived by a brother Robert G. (Judith) Styles of Olean, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Betty Styles, Jeannette Ducey, and Mary Morrison, and 1 brother James Styles. A private graveside burial service will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Olean Food Pantry, 8 Leo Moss Dr., Olean, NY 14760. Arrangements are with the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
