Richard O. Yaw
Allegany, NY Richard O. Yaw went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday (April 8, 2025).
Richard was born July 10, 1938 in Salamanca and was the son of Lennis and Helen Yaw. On September 29, 1962, in Little Valley, he married Bonita Marie Marsh who survives.
Richard graduated from Salamanca High School in 1956 and joined the Navy and was an Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class. He worked at the former Hunt’s Furniture, American Olean Tile, and retired from Cutco in 2001.
He loved to travel, build and fly remote-control planes, and was a member of the SHARKS model airplane club. Richard was fantastic at fixing just about anything and used those skills to build a hot rod. He also enjoyed meeting new people and talking with anyone that wanted to have a conversation. He was proud to have helped start the girls’ softball
team at Allegany Central School.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Dana (Lori) Yaw of Palmyra, PA; his daughter Vicki (Chris) Grover of Hinsdale; 5 grandchildren, Holly Yaw, Shannon (Jordan) Mann, Tanner Yaw, Tyler Giardini, and Shea (Toby) Livingston; 2 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sandra Watt and Nadine (Norman) Rhinehart, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Wayne Yaw.
There will be no services per his wishes.
