Frank Boni Allegany, NY Frank Boni, a longtime resident of Allegany and of Jacksonville, FL for the last 2 years, passed away Saturday (July 10, 2021) in Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville with his daughter Mary by his side. Mary was fortunate to have her Dad live with her for the past year and was able to make wonderful memories with him. Born February 11, 1929 in Olean, he was the son of John and Mary Favro Boni. On March 28, 1964 he married Shirley A. Fitch who predeceased him earlier this year on February 21st. Frank was a graduate of Olean High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was employed for 43 years for Dresser Clark Co. where he retired in 1991. He served 9 years as president of the Local #4601 United Steelworkers Union. He was a member of the Olean VFW, the Allegany American Legion and the Moose Lodge in Jacksonville, FL. He also enjoyed golf where he was a member of Pine Acres. In his retirement he worked for 11 years as a crossing guard at the Allegany-Limestone Elementary School until he was 90. He loved the kids and always brought them candy for all of the holidays. The kids and parents really loved him too and always did special things for him. He loved his garden that he had for over 40 years, making home made sausage, baking and cooking for his friends, right up until he was 90. He also loved doing latch-hook projects, right up until the day he died, and had made over 40 that he had shared with his friends and loved ones. He enjoyed rooting on the Buffalo Bills with his friends at the Allegany American Legion every Sunday. Surviving are a daughter Mary (Christopher) Zimmerman of Jacksonville, FL; 2 granddaughters Angela Kula of Allegany and Andrea (Shane) Thorn of East Aurora; son-in-law Paul Kula of Olean; niece Kathy Boni of Buffalo and nephew Bob (Pat) Boni of Reading, PA and many great life-long friends. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a daughter Deborah Kula on December 4, 2013, and his brothers Albert Boni and John Boni. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany Engine Co., 188 W. Main St., Allegany, NY 14706, the Allegany American Legion, 4350 NY-417, Allegany, NY 14706, or to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
