Robert W. Smith Camden, Alabama On Saturday, May 29th, 2021, Robert W. Smith, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 86. Robert was born on May 29th, 1935 in Olean. He served in the US Navy Seabee’s as a builder from 1955 to 1963. Bob, as his friends called him, moved to Florida in the early 1960’s, building cabinets and then homes throughout the 1970’s and early 1980’s before building his log cabin home in Alabama where he retired. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling with family in the camper, talking with friends over a cold beer and spending time in the outdoors fishing and hunting. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 66 years, Beverly; his four children, Cheryl, Randy, Linda and Patricia (Troy), as well as his four grandchildren, Andrew (Haley), Tyler, Jordan and Jillian; his sister, Rosie Giardini; his brother-in-law, Frances (Joan) Hill; his sister-in-law, Chris (Rose) Baldwin, along with nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 12th, 2021 at 1:00PM at the Casey Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home at 3128 W State Rd., Olean with Frances Hill, brother of Beverly, to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Allegany Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully accepted and can be sent to the funeral home. A donation to your favorite organization in Bob’s honor is also very welcome.
