Rosemary M. Ryan Allegany, NY Rosemary M. Ryan, of 1300 Chipmonk Rd., entered into the arms of her Lord on Friday (January 15, 2021) at the Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness. Born March 25, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of George W. and Julie Lawrence Stevenson. On May 14, 1949 at Epiphany Catholic Church in Cleveland, she married "the love of her life", Robert "Paul" Ryan, who predeceased her August 6, 2001. Rosemary graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland and worked as a secretary for the American Bonding Co. After her marriage, the couple made their home in Chipmonk where they raised 8 children. She was employed by the accountant William F. She was a longtime member of the former St. John the Baptist Church in Chipmonk and served as a Eucharistic minister and lector. After its closing, she became a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany and continued contributing to the vitality of that parish, including volunteering at The Bridge since its beginning. She was also a member of the Lady Knights of Columbus, the Red Hats and was the former treasurer of Sixty Plus, all of Allegany. She was a 30 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Always one to lend a helping hand, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 16 years, and was part of the welcoming effort to new St. Bonaventure University students. She loved to garden and maintain her yard, play ping pong, swim and had a passion for baseball. Most of all she loved her family and was her grandchildren's favorite babysitter. Rosemary leaves behind her loving family of 8 children, Sherry (Samuel) Quattrone, Rosanne (Michael) Capra, Dianne (Ted) Costa, Judy (Kevin) French, Theresa (Ed) Grove, Christine (Christopher) Strade and Robert (Bev) Ryan, all of Allegany and Gary Ryan of Hampton, VA; 25 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
