Obituary of Lawrence L. Converse

Lawrence L. Converse Hinsdale, NY Lawrence L. Converse, 66, of 4826 Five Mile Rd., passed away Tuesday (January 12, 2021) at the Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness. Born November 15, 1954 in Olean, he was the son of Neil L. and Dorothy Learn Converse. Lawrence was a 1974 graduate of Hinsdale Central School. He worked a 45-year career with Dresser Rand Co. and, along with his father, also co-owned and operated LLC Wrecking for 20 years. He was always enthusiastic about race cars and, along with his brother, enjoyed building and racing dirt track cars at a young age,. Later he was a NASCAR fan. He spent much of his time in his garage, tinkering with machines and cars. He especially enjoyed the company of his family and was content in knowing they were together making special memories. He leaves behind 3 siblings, Neil Converse of Olean, Holly Kennedy of Virginia and Stacey McCready of Olean along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 siblings, Martha Studley, Duane Converse and Rosemarie Converse. Family and friends may gather on Friday (January 15, 2021) from 11am until 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A time of remembrance will be shared beginning at 1pm. Burial will follow in Hinsdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ischua Fire Department, 5634 NY-16, Hinsdale, NY 14743.
