Obituary of Caroline E. Joy

Caroline E. Joy Olean, NY Caroline E. Joy, 87, a resident of Eden Heights, and a former resident of Emerald Hills Estates in Allegany, passed away Monday (January 4, 2021) at the Olean General Hospital, from complications due to COVID-19. Born September 24, 1933 in Olean, she was the daughter of Albert C. and Halah Slade Joy. Caroline was a graduate of Bolivar Central School and was employed as a medical secretary for many years in Olean. She worked for Dr. Shaffer for 25 years and for Dr. Miller for 6 years. She then worked for HSM until its closure, at which time she retired. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She is survived by a nephew, and a "sister" Carla (Bill) Shaffer and family of Eldred, PA. She was predeceased by a brother Merle Joy. Friends are welcome to attend a visitation from 10am-11am on Friday (January 8, 2021) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A funeral service will begin at 11am in the funeral home. Rev. Carrie Wolf, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be next to her parents in Wells Cemetery, Little Genesee.
