DOLLY C. BROWN "Past Supreme Royal Matron of Amaranth" OLEAN - Dolly C. Brown, a resident of the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Machias Campus and formerly of the Olean Portville Road, died Monday September 9, 2002 at the Olean General Hospital. Born in North Bend, PA on November 3, 1907 she was a daughter of Ira and Minnie Mayers. She married Theron Cleveland who predeceased her in 1967. On January 3, 1970 she married Roy Brown who predeceased her May 12, 1989. Mrs. Brown attended Westbrook Academy and worked for Niagara Mohawk until her retirement in 1969. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and a member of Amaranth where she served as Grand Royal Matron of New York State in 1958 - 1959 and was Supreme Royal Matron of Amaranth from 1971-1972. She was also a member of White Shrine. Mrs. Brown enjoyed baking and her culinary skills led to her selling Christmas cookies. She enjoyed birds and nature. She is survived by many loving friends. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. There will be no visitations. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Pfeiffer Nature Preserve or to Hawk Hideaway. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean.
