EDWARD STANLEY "BACHA" SHELC "Cherished Father and Grandfather" ALLEGANY - Edward S. "Bacha" Shelc of North Fifth Street died Wednesday September 25, 2002 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Born in Bellows Falls, VT on June 23, 1926 he was a son of John Edward and Frances Mary Juda Shelc. On June 5, 1951 in Allegany, he married Lois Marie Krott who predeceased him May 24, 1982. Mr. Shelc served with the United States Navy during WWII. He was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, class of 1951. He had been employed as a chemist for many years, retiring from Cooper Industries in 1996. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and the Allegany American Legion; post 892. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and was an avid reader. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by three sons, John Edward (Louisa) Shelc of Lancaster, OH, David Loren (Donelle) Shelc of Portville, NY and Donald Richard (Mary Jo) Shelc of Perry, NY; four daughters, Kathleen Marie (John) Weber of Warren, PA, Barbara Anne (Edward) Smith of Sayre, PA, Nancy Louise (Joseph) Gonska and Jennifer Lynn (Anthony) Giardini, both of Allegany; twelve grandchildren; a sister Mary (Geno) James of Boston, MA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. There will be no public visitations. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday September 27, 2002 at 10:00 AM at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Gregory Brennan, OFM will be celebrant. Burial and committal with military honors will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department or to a charity of the donor's choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 31287 West State Rd., Olean.
