Allegany, NY Richard A. Rogers, 88, of Allegany passed away Wednesday (March 1, 2017) at the Bradford (PA) Nursing Pavilion. Born May 29, 1928 in Hinsdale he was the son of Levi and Elizabeth Button Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a farmer in Hinsdale for many years and worked for the former Purina Co. and the former Worthmore Feed Co. and later for Stroehmann's Bakery in Olean. A job he most enjoyed was as a truck driver, first for Frontier Delivery and later for B.R. DeWitt Co. in Olean. He was a member of the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany for over 40 years and belonged to the Teamsters Union. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. When he was younger he enjoyed stock car driving and dancing. Surviving are 4 children Bonnie (Dave) Reed of Lewisville, TX, Diana Granger of Vernon, Alabama, Rex Rogers of Olean and Roy (Terri) Rogers of Allegany; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 sister Gertrude Hall of Caneadea; a daughter-in-law Helen Rogers of Hinsdale and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Gary Rogers on May 26, 2010. Friends will be received on Saturday (March 4, 2017) from 1-2pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State St. Olean. Services will begin at 2pm. Burial will be in Five Mile Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Engine Co., 188 W. Main St. Allegany, NY 14706.
