Obituary of Una M. Nolder

Una M. Nolder Allegany, NY Una M. Nolder, formerly of the W. Five Mile Rd. passed away Tuesday (June 28, 2016) at the Unity Hospital of Rochester after a brief illness. Born September 12, 1923 in Scotland she was a daughter of James and Lily Middleton Mitchell. On August 21, 1948 in Franklinville she married Arthur J. Nolder who predeceased her May 22, 2015. Una and her parents immigrated from Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and lived in the greater New York City area. She graduated from Dunellen (New Jersey) High School. During WWII, she worked at Cornell Dubilier Capacitors and Western Union. In Olean, she was a familiar face at Oppenheim Florist, and then Sears and Roebuck Co. from which she retired in 1979. Una was a 4-H leader and active in several card clubs. She and her husband, Allegany residents for 65 years, wintered in Florida in retirement. Surviving are a daughter Dianne L. (Gary) Reilly of Hilton; 2 granddaughters Dr. Morgann C. (Dr. Ellena Growcott) Reilly of Emeryville, Ca and Guinevere L. (Aaron Smykowski) Reilly of Rochester; a sister Helen M. Ruggieri of Olean and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Sharlene J. Nolder. Friends will be received on Friday (July 1, 2016) from 10am until 11am at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral and committal services will begin at 11am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Paul Ryan Scholarship Fund, C/O Rosemary Ryan, 1300 Chipmonk Rd., Allegany, NY 14706.
