Buffalo, NY A. Joan Landel, formerly of Eggertsville passed away Tuesday (March 29, 2016) at Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehab Center in Clarence. Born January 21, 1943 in Buffalo she was the daughter of Howard and Alice Fitzmorris Gleason. On November 20, 1968 she married David Landel who predeceased her November 12, 2010. Mrs. Landel was a graduate of Mount St. Mary's Academy in Kenmore and of D'Youville College in Buffalo. She taught second grade education at Maryvale Elementary School in Cheektowaga for 30 years prior to her retirement. She is survived by a sister Patricia Conroy of Allegany; a niece Kathleen (Richard) Ingalls of Madison, OH; nephews Brian (Madonna) Conroy of Charlotte, NC, Casey (Jo) Conroy of York, PA, Michael (Nicole) Conroy of Allegany, Christopher (Danielle) Conroy of Rochester and Daniel Conroy of Marble, NC and several cousins including a special cousin Eileen (Michael) Summers of Snyder. A memorial mass at Christ the King Church in Snyder will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Williamsville Cemetery in Williamsville. Memorials may be made to Brothers of Mercy Foundation, 10570 Bergtold Rd. Clarence, NY 14031. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
