Obituary of Georgia M. Sisson

Georgia M. Sisson Hinsdale, NY Georgia M. Sisson of 1085 Wagner Hill Rd. passed into the arms of the Lord on Sunday (January 10, 2016) at the Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born August 19, 1936 in Olean she was the daughter of Forrest E. and Gladys Oakley Streight. On July 13, 1957 in Phoenix, AZ she married Thomas E. Sisson who predeceased her February 17, 2002. Mrs. Sisson was a graduate of Hinsdale Central School and later worked at the school as a teacher's aid for several years. She was a longtime member of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church where she served as the Sunday school superintendent and as the secretary for many years. She also enjoyed singing in the choir. She belonged to the Red Hat Society as well as the Guys and Gals Club in Hinsdale. As her children were growing she volunteered for the scouting and campfire programs. Surviving are 2 sons Thomas K. Sisson of Hinsdale and Kenneth E. Sisson of Portville; 2 daughters Georgia N. Sisson of Hinsdale and Jamie M. (Leroy) Schreckengost of Vail, AZ; 4 grandchildren Ethan Schreckengost, Justin (Katie) Schreckengost, Bryan Schreckengost and Brittany Sisson; a great grandchild Kenny and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 3 sisters Jane Struble, Bonnie Linderman and Marjorie Clark. Friends will be received on Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Friday (January 15, 2016) at 11:00am at the Hinsdale United Methodist Church. Rev. Richard Young, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery.
