Obituary of Edward J. Ash, Jr.

Edward J. Ash, Jr. Olean, NY Edward J. Ash, Jr. of 1215 W. Henley St. passed away Friday (January 1, 2016) after a brief stay at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. Born April 27, 1928 in Olean he was the son of Edward J. and Cecelia J. Fritsch Ash, Sr. Mr. Ash was a graduate of Olean High School and of the Bryant and Stratton Business Institute in Buffalo. He had been a resident of Olean most of his life and had also resided in Ft. Lauderdale, FL from 1959 until 1982. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the US Army from 1950 to 1952. He worked as an accountant for Devcon International and worked as a troubleshooter for that company in the Caribbean. Surviving are a sister Madelyn "Madge" Ash of Olean; 2 brothers Michael "Mickey" (Christine) Ash of Springhill, FL and Donald Ash of Arcadia, CA and several loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sisters Gail Snyder and Dorothy Duffy. Friends are invited to attend a graveside burial service in St. Bonaventure Cemetery today (Saturday January 2, 2016) at 11:00am. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, assisted by Sr. Regina Gertrude Aman, OSF, will officiate. Memorials may be directed to Sister Pat's Home on N. 1st St. in Olean. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
